Living the Abundant Life
July 6–8, 2012
Join us for the fourth annual Washington D.C. Mid-singles Conference, from July 6-8, 2012 with 400 LDS mid-singles from all over the Washington D.C. area, the nation and beyond. The weekend is full of fun activities for both small and larger groups and opportunities to catch up with old friends and meet new people.
This year’s conference theme is Living the Abundant Life from President Thomas S. Monson’s talk in the January 2012 Ensign:
“I challenge Latter-day Saints everywhere to undertake a personal, diligent, significant quest for what I call the abundant life—a life filled with an abundance of success, goodness, and blessings.”
The 2012 conference will focus on the principles of the ABC’s—Attitude, Believe, and Courage—with lots of opportunities to make new friends, discover D.C., attend workshops, and participate in meaningful service, but most of all to have an amazing and fun experience.
With so many great activities in D.C., the hardest part will be choosing which things to do. Here are a few highlights. For full details, please see the Conference Agenda page.
Boat Cruise—Enjoy amazing views of the Capitol and monuments as we cruise the Potomac River on the Cherry Blossom boat. Dance the night away with variety of activities on all three levels of the boat, an awesome DJ, dance lessons, games, stargazing, and more.
Explore D.C.—Choose one of several options to explore and get to know the nation’s capital like an insider: use your smart phone to guide you and other mid-singles to the tastes, sights, and sounds of D.C., take a specialized tour of the Capitol or the National Portrait Gallery, bike the sites, kayak the Potomac, or attend the Smithsonian Folk Life Festival.
Mission D.C.—Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to become a secret agent with the nation under threat. Tap into your inner Bourne as you and a small team of highly-trained agents are tasked with a mind-twisting, death-defying mission that will send you into the heart of D.C. to save the nation’s capital from impending doom. Not only will the country have you to thank for its survival, your heroic efforts may afford you a chance to win fabulous prizes.
Workshops—We bring in accomplished experts to engage the mind and spirit in living the abundant life via President Monson’s ABC principles. The final program is still being determined. Please check back for updated information.
Service Project—Arlington Cemetery Service Project (pending confirmation)—clear out overgrown areas on the revered grounds where soldiers who fought valiantly for freedom have been laid to rest.
LIVE Concert at Night—Live with flair as you sport your style at a LIVE concert with the sounds of talented artists. Dine on fine fare and mingle with the coolest people in town (which includes you, of course).
